Just a quick test post to share the plan we are currently working for decorating our historic church.

If this works correctly, the link above should take you to a Google docs folder where you can find the Christmas tasks spreadsheet. Please let me know what you think!
Julie will be sending out an email requesting volunteers to staff the plan. Happy Advent!

Prayers needed
Please keep Mary Ann Trimber, Dorothy's beloved mother, in your prayers. She has been very ill and hospitalized with abdominal problems, and is finally back at home. Mrs. Trimber is the mother of NINE children, and serves as the Chancellor for the Mid-Atlantic Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She and Dr. Connell Trimber are among the pillars of St. Mary's Church!
Additionally, please keep in prayer all of our young couples who will enter into the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, that they may be enlightened to the meaning of this most holy union that reflects of the sacred relationship of Christ to His Church.

Exciting news!
You may have seen Mary's email about our mention by the EWTN Rome Bureau Chief, Joan Lewis on her blog. Just in case you missed it, here are highlights from Mary's email and the link if you want to check us out:
From Mary's email, "[This] is taken from the Easter message published on April 13 by EWTN Rome Bureau Chief Joan Lewis. Her time in Rome pre-dates the network (more than 30 years old) so kudos for our church are really high praise, from one who lives in the motherland of Catholic culture!"

From Joan Lewis' post, "The first [thing I noticed] was the striking beauty and rich colors of the stained glass windows, and the second was the profusion of white lilies. I had not seen that many lilies in one place at Eastertime for many a year, and it was glorious. Many memories of Easter Sunday as a child came flooding back into my mind – the lilies in church and the lilies in our home as well.
Fr. Robert Ruskamp, a parochial vicar, gave a wonderful sermon about the joy of this season and the joy of being a Christian. He said he just shakes his head when he hears the words – 'unhappy Christian': 'That is simply an oxymoron,' he said, explaining that an oxymoron consists of two contradictory terms side by side. One cannot be both unhappy and a Christian – not if we understand our faith and know that Christ died for our sins and He rose that we would have eternal life. And knowing that we have that eternal life and happiness ahead of us, he said, is the reason for all Christians to be 'happy Christians.' "
And from Mary, "What a lovely compliment for Father Ruskamp and for our beautiful, historic church! This blog is read world wide, and Ms. Lewis has been a highly respected correspondent in her own right, even before her association with EWTN! So, for all the ladies who worked so hard on Easter, profound thanks and prayers for everything that you accomplished this year -- you did St. Mary's proud, and totally raised the bar for our Easter celebration in 2010!!!"

Mary takes the test
Our own devoted and talented leader, Mary P., requests the prayers of the Guild as she works toward becoming a certified design team leader. She is preparing to take a rigorous exam, the study materials for which would fill the conference table at the Sam Adams house.
Our prayers are with you, Mary!
